Juno Soundtrack is Awesome

I saw the movie Juno a few weeks back and was quite impressed.  It’s funny, sweet and sad all at once.

I came away from the theater wanting to rent all the movies Ellen Page (actress who plays Juno) has ever been in and I  wanted the movie’s soundtrack.

Today I noticed they started selling it on Amazon and bought it right away.

It’s rare for me to buy an album and like every single song on it, but I really do for this one.  Listening to it makes me remember my creative high school days.

Anyway, I highly recommend it.

You can buy it for $8.99 through their mp3 download system or get the actual album for just a dollar more.

Lebowski Fest on Shabbos?

This is an outrage!  I found out about Lebowski fest a few hours ago and started getting really excited.  It’s in Chicago at a gorgeous theatre.  For the 10th anniversary of one of the best movies ever The Big Lebowskithey’re projecting the original 35mm film print!  Then they’re having a big bowling party the next day.

I was about to buy tickets when I noticed the dates.  March 7-9!  They’re playing the movie on Friday night and then bowling on Saturday!

Why am I so upset about this?  Because I’m Jewish and I don’t go to movies, don’t drive in a car, don’t go listen to bands and I sure as shit don’t f*#$ing roll on Shabbos!

If you haven’t seen the movie you probably think I’m crazy.  Rent it and then you’ll understand what an outrage this is.  Walter would be so upset!

Walter Sobchak: I told those fucks down at the league office a thousand times that I don’t roll on Shabbos!
Donny: What’s Shabbos?
Walter Sobchak: Saturday, Donny, is Shabbos, the Jewish day of rest. That means that I don’t work, I don’t get in a car, I don’t fucking ride in a car, I don’t pick up the phone, I don’t turn on the oven, and I sure as shit
Walter Sobchak: don’t fucking roll! Shomer shabbos!
The Dude: Walter…
Walter Sobchak: Shomer fucking shabbos.
The Dude: Oh fuck it.

They’ve added a second day of bowling on Sunday but I think I might just have to boycott the whole festival.  If I can’t see the movie then what’s the point?  Maybe I’ll have to organize my own Lebowski fest starting Sat night?  Hmm…
