Leora and Ariel Puppets

I’ve been in Vancouver the last two weeks visiting family and celebrating Passover.  Last week my sibs and I went to Granville Island and saw some really cool puppets.  That’s when my sister Aliza got the bright idea that we should make our own puppets.

First we decided to make them of ourselves and our husbands and then we decided to make them anatomically correct.  hehe…it’s been pretty amusing.

Anyway they’re almost done aside from belly buttons and some nicer clothes.  Check out puppet Leora singing Lonely by Yael Naim:

Stay tuned for step by step instructions as to how we made the puppets.

I went bowling with my buddy Gloria and wore my utterz wristbands to protect my wrists. Too bad they couldn’t help with my aim!

DSC_0177Last night I decided I needed a break from my computer.  I decided to go offline for 24 hours.  Sadly since I’m writing this some would call this an epic fail on my part but the point of going offline wasn’t to alienate my beloved cyber world it was simply to do something different.  I managed to do that and have over 500 pictures to prove it.

I took my camera, ipod and blackberry and walked to the beach.  Along the way I took some random pictures of fences, signs and trees.  I’m not sure why but I think I’m obsessed with fences these days…

Anyway, once I got to the empty beach I saw this written in the sand:

I briefly pondered who the author was and what royalty had been on that very sand just moments before me.  I imagine a 30 something dad with his 3 year old daughter skipping, running, laughing on the beach.  Or maybe not.

Then I plopped myself down in the sand and started taking pictures of the waves.  The place was almost completely deserted except for the occasional bird and a few random people.

Check out my flickr set of some of my favorite pictures from the beach here.

I’m not sure what I’ll do the rest of my time off but I think it might involve some baking/cooking, spending more time with the bunnies and the husband and maybe a movie.  Then later tonight I might head to the Red Door Shelter if Ariel has the energy to play with some homeless buns.  It’s been way too long since I’ve helped out there.  I wonder if Delilah is still around.
